The Corporación PBA is a non-profit organization, that works with International cooperation and national counterparts resources, in various processes of participatory innovation with small agriculturists in the technology, organizational and enterprise area that contribute to improve the production, income, knowledge, coexistence and environment in the rural communities.

In which principles is Corporation based on?

The job of the Corporación PBA is sustained by the following principles:

1. The rural communities will obtain their progress, when they are decided to lead their processes of economic and social development.
   
2. Every single person has the knowledge and the experience to contribute to this. The capacity to innovate and to contribute for the improvement of its communities.
   
3. The respect of different opinions, ideas and beliefs of all the people, and the respect and care of the environment. Knowing that respect is the foundation for a peaceful, civilized, harmonic and sustainable development.
4. The teamwork within the agriculturist, technician and professionals, presents a great fortitude to achieve a better living in the rural communities.
   
5. It is important that each member of the communities and of the Corporación PBA, improve their level, and quality of life, contributing in this way to the improvement of level and quality of life for all the members of the different communities.
6. It is intended that all the persons, organizations, entities and companies that work in peace and honestly for the benefit of the rural communities, grow and get stronger every day.
   
7. We look for quality and excellence in every single job that its advanced by the members of the Corporation, with ought them the small agriculturists won´t be able to improve and progress.

Philosophy

The Corporación PBA´s job, is based in the principal in which the rural and sustainable development is possible, only with the contest and leadership from the members of their own communities, and that the best way to foment it, is by stimulating the social and individual competitions of the small producers and their families. It´s because of this, that the creation of abilities or capacities in the small rural producers is promoted, so that they have the opportunity to lead their own development of economic and social processes. This way they are the actors in the local development, elevating their self-esteem, harnessing their management abilities, fomenting their autonomy and fortifying their productive competitions.

In this conception, the personal and collective dimensions are bound, as well as the actions as the technological actions, productive and commercial with the cultural and the educational.

The main objective of the members of the Corporación PBA is to contribute to the improvement of level , quality of life and overcoming the conditions of poverty of the small rural producers, promoting participatory and innovation processes that will help achieve the sustainable and peace development, implemented in their communities; and to the preservation of the environment. This way, the Corporación PBA aims to help in the development, fairness, coexistence and Peace in Colombia.

Members- Who makes part of the Corporación PBA?

The small agriculturists are the soul of the Corporación PBA, and they have a very active and decision making participation in all the phases and aspects of their work. Starting from the selection of the problems they look to surpass, to the pursuit and evaluation of every single one of their projects.

In various areas where the Corporación PBA works, the small agriculturist make part of cooperatives, associations and/or Local participatory groups (GPLs), which are responsible to forego in their location, all of their work and investigation, development and Corporation and understanding of the Corporation, and promote the creation companies for the small agriculturists that produce clean seeds and Bio-input - Technology companies – and associative companies of transformation and commercialization of the harvest of its members. In these companies, women have an outstanding participation. Also the small agriculturists are the ones in charge to extend the influence of the work from COrporación PBA to other locations, and to spread their good results.

Also making part of the Corporación PBA are the Public Colombian entities- such as the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Environment Ministry and the National Planning Department.-, international research centers like the CIAT-, Mixed Colombian Investigation Corporations- v.g., CORPOICA and CONIF-, important national and regional Universities- The National, Córdoba and Sucre University, and the organizations of the small agriculturists that work in participative innovation processes with the Corporación PBA.

Achievements

The main achievements of the Corporación PBA job and of all its members are the following:

• Development and systematization of its own methodologies and improving participatory technology, organizational fortification, empowerment and enterprise development of small rural producers, that are applying with numerous communities in different cultural and ecological environments in Colombia and other Andino countries.
  
• More than one hundred organizations of producers created and/or strengthened in various regions of Colombia.
  
• Forty trained leading peasants in social management and organizational change.
  
• Sixty organizations of small producers trained in administration and project management.
  
• Protocol development for the decentralized production of clean seeds and various harvest., that include lab establishments of harvest and property tissue from the small producers, operated by them.
  
• Protocol development for the decentralized production of biological fertilizers (bioles and Micorrizas) and organics (lombirabono and bokashi) and bio controllers (beauveria bassiana)
  
• Mythology development for the native micro-organism capture and its application in the preparation of the bioinsumos.
  
• Design and participatory establishment of Agroforestry systems and rural harvest adapted to different conditions of various ecosystems and to the peasants characteristics.
  
• Processes and Protocol development of the Variety participatory selection, that has allowed to select and preserve materials with good adaptation to the agro-ecological conditions and the desirable characteristics for the fresh industrial market.
  
• Decrease in the use of agro-chemicals through integrated harvest management processes. (use of bionsumos and traps)
  
• Close to 50 organizations in Colombia with business plans in the green elaborated market, who are participants or in the process of elaboration.
  
• Linking of agriculture schools, and other educational institutions in the process of participative rural innovation and impact throughout changes of learning methods for proficiency.
